Brown study. In 2006, the first three levels of the Brown Sciences Library were converted into the Friedman Study Center, designed by Architecture Research Office (ARO). Open 24 hours, the Center is full of spaces where students can work and hang out. In addition to a regular wayfinding system, we added a new kind of signage to the Center: words and images from the Brown library system, silkscreened on the walls and labeled with their card-catalog numbers. Some are serious and some are funny, and the more time you spend there the more of them you’ll discover.
