Celebrating dissent. The Nation—a journal of current affairs, culture and opinion—is the oldest continuously-published weekly magazine in the U.S. (it was founded in 1865 by a group of abolitionists). Between 1998 and 2003 we art-directed and designed covers for the Nation on topics that were emotional, surprising and important. We produced over 230 covers in all. We're proud to have helped The Nation continue its tradition of what activist/actor Ossie Davis calls "exposing what we need to know, whether we want to know it or not."

"Open's no-nonsense presentation has conveyed authority and gravitas at a time of general suspicion at the perceived 'liberal bias' in the American media." —Grafik
