Trial and error. In 2003, Illinois Governor George Ryan granted clemency to everyone on that state's death row and called for a moratorium on all executions, based on evidence that the justice system was deeply flawed. Deadline is a documentary that tells the story of the law students that first brought those flaws to light, the history of the death penalty in America, and the rising numbers of executions over the last few decades. Working with directors Katy Chevigny and Kirsten Johnson, we created the film's on-screen credits and graphic sequences.
