Danger: radioactive. Just outside Carlsbad, New Mexico,
the U.S. government is storing radioactive waste (left over from
the production of nuclear weapons) that will remain deadly for
at least 10,000 years. How can we warn people living that far
in the future? As part of the pilot for a PBS show about design,
filmmaker Chris Wilcha told the story of the development of these
special warning signs. On a limited budget, we produced animated
sequences
for the film that explain where
the facility is located, what
is stored there, and how
the goverment plans to tell people to stay away.
